Who We Are

The Regional Multicultural Magnet School (RMMS) is currently a K-5 magnet school in southeastern Connecticut. RMMS will become a grade 1-6 school beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.  Over the next three school years, RMMS will transition to a full grades 3-8 school.

Excellence and equity have been core values at the heart of the RMMS philosophy.

RMMS was established in 1992 to offer the diverse student population of our region an innovative program demonstrating best educational practices within a multicultural curriculum. We follow a project-based learning approach where students learn by actively exploring real-world problems and challenges. Instead of just memorizing facts, they work on meaningful projects that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and connections to the world around them. This approach fosters curiosity, teamwork, and practical skills, giving students a deeper understanding of what they're learning and how it applied to their lives. 

We believe that we can inspire children to be knowledgeable, globally-minded problem solvers who contribute to making the world a better place.
