Physical Education

The RMMS Physical Education program helps students develop the lifelong skills, knowledge and confidence needed to choose healthy, active lifestyles.  Children grow physically, socially and emotionally through fun, cooperative activities which promote well-being. Our Physical Education curriculum incorporates elements of the PYP Units of inquiry to create deeper learning.

Students in grades K-5 experience a variety of activities in a positive and caring environment which encourages challenging oneself in order grow. The various needs of our students are met by providing lessons that are appropriate for each child’s developmental stage and ability level. The physical education curriculum guides students towards the mastery of basic locomotor movement skills, non-locomotor skills, manipulative skills and movement concepts. These skills are applied to specific sports in the upper grade levels. Age-appropriate games are played encouraging players to demonstrate good sportsmanship and taking responsibility for their actions.  For the safety of themselves and others, students are expected to be caring and principled by following directions.
