Thank you for your interest in the Regional Multicultural Magnet School!

Regional Multicultural Magnet School (RMMS) is expanding!  Currently a grades 1-6 magnet school, RMMS will add grade 7 beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.  Over the next two school years, RMMS will transition to a full grades 3-8 school!

RMMS is a public magnet school committed to respecting cultural diversity, empowering all learners, and developing compassionate people who take responsibility for making positive changes in our society. 

The application period for the 2026-2027 school year begins January 1, 2026!  

To apply, students must be a resident of Connecticut and entering grade 2-7 in the 2026-2027 school year. 

There is an application process and lottery system for acceptance into RMMS.  All students applying must submit an application.  Students are accepted using a computer-based online lottery system.

Southeastern Connecticut Magnet Schools are committed to serving military families and their children. RMMS is dedicated to helping highly mobile families who transfer to the region following the regular application period. If you are moving to the area or receive transfer orders to the Connecticut Submarine Base or the Coast Guard Academy and are interested in learning more about our school, please call the school at (860) 437-7775.

As a parent, I’m incredibly impressed with the warm, supportive environment at Regional Multicultural Magnet School. The after-school programs are outstanding—my child loves participating in the multicultural dance club and Girls on the Run, which have helped build confidence and community.
