Welcome,
My name is Allison Haines and I am the Behavior Support Manager at RMMS. Should your child have a behavioral issue that is disrupting the classroom learning, they may spend some time speaking with me.
My room is called the Recovery Room. When a student is having a difficult time in the classroom and taking a break or going to the buddy room is not helping, or the behavior is escalating very quickly, the Recovery Room is a place for students to recover their composure to be able to return to class ready for learning. The student and I focus on addressing the issue and working together to make a plan for reentry into the classroom.
While in the Recovery Room we work on behavioral issues in a variety of ways. My goal is to make every intereaction a learning experience for the student. We review our responsibilities, discuss the choices we make and the consequences of those choices, and really try to live by our school rules of taking care of ourselves and others.
I attempt to make the Recovery Room a positive experience for each student so that they view it as a resource for problem solving. Students may choose to come and speak to me about any issue thay are having and I gladly welcome them.
Please feel free to contact me at 860-437-7775 ext.155 if you have any further questions concerning my role at school or the Recovery Room. Thank you.
